Welcome to Shima Spain Village

My name is Maricruz Bermudez and I am from the Canary Islands of Spain, at which Columbus stopped before he set out on his great voyage to the Atlantic Ocean.
I have been living in Japan for many years and still find many differences between Spanish culture and Japanese culture. While assisting and communicating with many guests through my work at the Shima Spain Village, I always appreciate how kind and thoughtful Japanese people are.

My main job at the Parque España is to give our guests a tour of the park and also to offer a special event that introduces elementary school students and other educational groups to the attractions and culture of Spain. I also work as a staff member at ¡Hasta La Vista! to help our guests choose souvenirs of the Shima Spain Village and learn about special products from Spain. I have been greatly honored and encouraged by words and notes I have received from guests who thank me for my job.

Being Spanish, I myself am very proud of what we offer at the Shima Spain Village, especially the beautiful reproduction of streetscapes of Spain. My favorite is Santa Cruz Street, which reminds me of Andalusia, the region close to my hometown. I would also encourage our guests to visit the "Xavier Castle Museum." The museum is built in the same size as the original Castillo de Xavier and features a variety of interesting exhibitions about the history and culture of Spain. For those who want to take a closer look at the exhibitions, we offer a guided tour of the museum as well.

The Shima Spain Village is a great theme park where visitors, including those from outside Japan, can experience the essence of Spanish attractions in a few hours. And the park is only part of all the wonderful charms that you can enjoy in Ise-Shima, which are different from what you may see in popular Kyoto or Nara.
